The United States Agency for International Development is launching a five-year programme designed to create jobs and improve livelihoods of people living in over 90 communities along the administrative line separating the Russia-occupied regions from the rest of the country.
The organisation said the $24-million initiative would aim to help residents in realising “their full potential in a variety of sectors”.
It will present opportunities for the locals to engage in Georgia’s transition to a green economy, the USAID said in one example, through adoption of sustainable technologies to “advance environmental and social well-being”.
The new Resilient Communities Programme will be officially unveiled on November 3. (Agenda/Business World Magazine)
