Georgian prime minister Irakli Garibashvil pledged to explore new avenues in Georgian-Swiss economic cooperation following his meeting with president of Switzerland Ignazio Cassis at the United Nations general assembly in New York.
Stressing “successful cooperation in a number of fields”, the officials agreed to further intensify political, economic and other cooperation.
Praising “excellent bilateral relations” between the parties, the Swiss official said regional issues, including Russia’s war in Ukraine, and Switzerland’s mandate to mediate between Georgia and Russia following the suspension of diplomatic ties in 2008, in the wake of Russia-Georgia war, had also been discussed with the Georgian top official.
The head of the Georgian government has held several meetings with UN officials and foreign leaders on the sidelines of the assembly, while also attending events organised by the UN within the gathering. (Agenda/Business World Magazine)
