Turkiye ($1.78 billion), Russia ($1.47 billion) and China ($1.22 billion) were the top trading partners of Georgia in its total external trade turnover in January-August, preliminary data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia showed.
Georgia’s top partners by exports in January-August were China ($502.6 million), Azerbaijan ($421.5 million) and Russia ($409.3 million), while the top markets by imports were Turkiye ($1.46 billion), Russia ($1.06 billion) and China ($724 million).
The top export items were: copper ores and concentrates – $683.8 million (19.1% of total exports), motorcars – $490.9 million (13.7%) and ferroalloys – $371.6 million (10.4%).
The three top import commodities included motorcars – $940.4 million (11.2% of total imports), petroleum and petroleum oils – $872.7 million (10.4%) and copper ores and concentrates – $531.4 million (6.4%).
In January-August, Georgian external trade turnover equaled $11.93 billion, up by 36.6%.
The value of exports rose by 36.9% and equaled $3.57 billion in the reported period, while imports grew by 36.5%, amounting to $8.36 billion.
Trade deficit, a measure of the negative balance of trade in which imports exceed exports, reached $4.79 billion, while the share of trade turnover hit 40.2%. (Agenda/Business World Magazine)
