Households that use electricity to heat their homes will also be included in a comprehensive government support scheme, the Ministry of Family and Social Policy has announced.
The government has offered one-off subsidies, ranging from PLN 500 to 3,000 (EUR 106-636), to households heating their homes with coal, timber, wood pellets, liquefied natural gas and oil, as prices of the commodities increased rapidly amid post-Covid-19 supply chain problems and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
“As part of the shield programme prepared in response to the increase of energy prices, the government is also planning PLN 1,000 (EUR 212) subsidies for those who heat their homes mainly by electricity, including heat pumps,” the ministry said in a statement on September 16.
