The Ministry of Infrastructure has sent a letter to the European Commission proposing that the EU completely block transport connections with Russia and Belarus.
“Despite the restrictive measures already in place, Russian businesses are finding workarounds and continuing to operate in other countries. Accordingly, the existing sanctions fail to fully achieve their goal. In this regard, the Ministry of Infrastructure proposes that the European Union completely block land and sea transport routes with Russia and Belarus,” the ministry statement said.
In addition, the Ministry of Infrastructure proposes to block the possibility of shipping goods and transporting people to Russia and Belarus through the EU and across its borders and to prohibit provision of customs services for goods delivered to the Russian Federation and Belarus.
The ministry stressed that these measures were necessary to stop supplies to the aggressor power of dual-use goods that could be used for military purposes. (Ukrinform/Business World Magazine)
