The airport for domestic flights Tashkent-3 was temporarily closed on August 19, Uzbekistan Airways reported.
“All intra-republican flights will be operated according to the schedule from the Islam Karimov International Airport in Tashkent,” according to the press service of the airline.
The Transport Ministry said that the decision was made amid the evacuation of citizens of Germany, Afghanistan and EU countries in transit through Tashkent airport.
“In order to ensure the uninterrupted evacuation of the mentioned citizens, the Uzbek side has provided a separate terminal. In this regard, temporary changes may be made at the place of departure/arrival and in the arrival / departure schedules of both domestic and international flights, ” the message says.
The Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan said it was providing technical assistance to Germany in the process of evacuation of German citizens from Afghanistan, as well as technical personnel serving the German diplomatic mission in Afghanistan.
All evacuees, before leaving for Germany, will be in the transit zone of the airport. (Uzreport/Business World Magazine)
