With the summer vacation season nearing its end, four of every ten companies in Latvia have plans to organize work in a way so that it can be done in-office and drop remote work practice. Approximately as many companies have plans to adopt a popular hybrid model, which provides for staying at home for a couple of days a week and go to work normally every other day, according to results of a survey by business management and accounting software Jumis developer Jumis Pro.
42.2% of respondents of more than 200 interviewed companies have plans to return to work from office. 21.6% plan to adopt the hybrid model, letting employees work from office 1-2 days a week.
In all other times work is planned to be organized remotely.
18.1% of respondents have plans to work from office 3-4 days a week with an option to work from home one or a couple of days a week.
As many companies have plans to remain on remote working model – they have no plans to return to the office for the time being. To save money, some of these companies have sold their offices.
“Although this scenario seemed unreal for most conservative businesses a couple of years ago, it has become a reality. Businesses in which all employees continue working from office are now in the minority. Even if the epidemiological situation allows them working from office. Transition towards a more flexible regime is a positive development for employees, businesses and the planet,” Jumis Pro manager Viesturs Slaidins comments on changes made to organization of labor.
“Employees are able to devote the time they save for themselves and their family. As for employers, the benefit of letting employees work from home is reducing office maintenance costs. There is also reduced pollution in the urban area. People drive to work only if it is required to work from office,” adds the manager of Jumis Pro.
In a survey conducted in spring, 45.6% of respondents said they planned to maintain the remote work regime for at least a couple of days every week. 9.6% of respondents said they would focus on entirely remote work, according to results of the survey. This means the number of supporters of remote work has nearly doubled in two months.
Respondents mention saved time and reduced costs as the main benefits of working remotely. As for the main benefits of working from office, respondents mentioned ease of communication and work organization. (BNN/Business World Magazine)
