About 1,000 infrastructure projects are currently being implemented in Ukraine under President Volodymyr Zelensky’s Great Construction program and other programs, Deputy Head of the President’s Office and Coordinator of the Great Construction Program Kyrylo Tymoshenko said at the All-Ukrainian Forum “Ukraine 30. Decentralization” in Kyiv on July 28.
According to him, such a great number of infrastructure projects are being implemented, in particular, due to decentralization. Most facilities are co-financed from the state budget and at the expense of local communities, which have received greater financial opportunities through decentralization.
“And we’re not just talking about roads. About 100 kindergartens, 100 schools, 100 sports facilities are being built in communities. Communities want to implement such projects. Indeed, the state helps them with its budget, but these are co-financing projects that are financed by towns, villages and merged territorial communities,” he said.
According to him, territorial communities are already competing for additional funding from the state budget for the implementation of social infrastructure projects.
Tymoshenko also mentioned other programs initiated by President Volodymyr Zelensky – “Great Restoration”, “Healthy Ukraine”, “Active Parks”, the reconstruction of reception departments at support hospitals, etc. Local communities also take an active part in their implementation.
