This year Swedish ferry company Stena Line deployed two new, large and modern ferries on its route connecting Latvia’s Ventspils and Sweden’s Nynashamn, as confirmed by the company.
The first of them – Stena Scandica – arrived in Ventspils on June 29. It is preparing for its first voyage, which will start on July 2. The ferry has 70% increased passenger carrying capacity when compared to other ferries in use by the company. Its freight capacity is also higher by about one-third.
The new Stena Scandica ferry is 222 m long and it is up to 30% larger than other ferries that course on this route. Its cabin capacity, when compared to other ferries, is 70% higher.
Stena Scandica arrived in Ventspils in the morning on June 29. It will remain at port to prepare for the next voyage to Nynashamn, which is scheduled for July 2.
