When compared to the same period of last year, Latvia experienced moderately rapid export growth among EU member states in the first four months of 2021, according to data published by Eurostat.
Exports in Latvia increased by 14%.
The biggest export growth among EU member states was observed in Slovakia (+27%), Estonia (+22%), Poland and the Czech Republic (+21% in both), Italy (+20%), Croatia, Portugal and Romania (+19% in all three), as well as Greece and Hungary (+18% in both).
Lithuania and Luxembourg experienced an export growth of 13%.
Exports are up in all EU member states except for Ireland (-5%) and Cyprus (-22%).
Import volumes in January-April period, when compared to the same period of 2020, increased in all EU member states except for Malta, where it dropped 5%.
The biggest import increase in January-April period was observed in Estonia (+22%) and Romania (+19%). In Latvia imports increased by 12% and in Lithuania – by 14%. (BNN/Business World Magazine)
