Teachers, assistant teachers and nannies of pre-school education institutions and special education institutions will be paid single-time benefit for work performed during Covid-19 pandemic, as reported by the Education and Science Ministry.
The government has allocated EUR 6.3 million from the state budget program for emergencies.
The total size of the single-time benefit per hourly rate is EUR 300. This amount includes the net amount of EUR 242.74 and the employer’s state social insurance contribution – EUR 57.26.
The bonus amount is approximately 30% of the lowest wage amount paid to teachers.
Pre-school education institutions and special education institutions continued providing services as usual since November 9, 2020, when Latvia re-declared a state of emergency.
The work of special schools and pre-school teachers under the current situation, when Covid-19 infection continues spreading uncontrollably, is related to increased risks and increased workload.
Teachers are also on the brink of burnout, because the workload, as well as physical and psychological intensity, has increased considerably. (BNN/Business World Magazine)
