In November 2020, the number of foreign and resident visitors comprised 50.3 thousand, down by 44.2% MoM and by 72.3% YoY. As compared to November of the previous year, the number of nights spent by visitors reduced by 66% and comprised 121.9 thousand nights.
After the emergency situation was declared in the country on November 9, 2020, opportunities of both local and foreign visitors to travel reduced even more, therefore, more rapid fall in the number of visitors was observed in November 2020, according to the data from the Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia.
In November 2020, 37.3 thousand Latvian visitors were hosted at tourist accommodation establishments, down by 39.9% YoY and by 48.5% MoM.
The number of nights spent by residents comprised 81.2 thousand, down by 29% YoY and by 40.5% MoM. Latvian visitors stayed mostly in Riga (34.1%), Jurmala (11.7%), Liepaja (8%), Daugavpils (3.9%), Sigulda county (3%), Ventspils (2.6%) and Kuldiga county (2%).
In November 2020, the number of foreign visitors comprised 13 thousand, down by 89.1% YoY. Number of nights spent by them comprised 40.7 thousand, down by 83.4%. Most foreign guests hosted were from Russia (1.4 thousand), Germany (1.2 thousand), Estonia (1.1 thousand) and Lithuania (1 thousand).
Most foreign guests were hosted in Riga – 84.2%. Liepaja accounted for 2.9%, Jurmala – 2.6%, Sigulda county – 2.1% and Marupe county – 1.3%. (BNN/Business World Magazine)
