Ukraine has to pay about $1.6 billion to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in 2021, including almost $1.36 billion as repayment of the principal amount of the debt and $0.26 billion as payment of interest, Chairman of the Council of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Bohdan Danylyshyn has written on his Facebook page.
“The need to refinance Ukraine’s debt to the IMF requires the parties fulfill their commitments under the current Stand-By Arrangement, which will allow Ukraine to attract IMF financing in the amount of about $2.9 billion. This will correspond to the amount of four tranches of the loan within a respective quota, two of which were to be received in 2020,” Danylyshyn wrote.
He added that taking into account payments on private sector debt (banking and corporate debt), the total amount of payments from Ukraine in favor of non-residents in 2021 would reach about $15.5 billion. (Ukrinform/Business World Magazine)
