40 new, eight-meter ISUZU diesel buses have entered Tbilisi, bringing the project of 220 Isuzu buses to an end.
“The project is complete. Tbilisi already has modern and comfortable, 220 Isuzu eight-meter buses,” Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze has stated.
He said that the completion of the project did not mean Tbilisi would not have new buses in the current or following years.
“In May-July, 12-meter buses will enter Tbilisi and then we will launch the project of 18-meter buses,” Kaladze said, adding that the streets having no public transport in Tbilisi would have them, while busy streets would receive additional vehicles.
Kaladze said that modern, fast and comfortable public transport would ease traffic and provide improvements against pollution.
He added that “genuine steps are being taken” for renovation and modernization of the metro.
The Isuzu buses Kaladze presented are of Euro-6 standard, having 21 seats for 53 passengers.
The busses are adapted for people with disabilities, have wireless Internet, modern air conditioning and heating systems, USB chargers, anti-vandal systems and are equipped with cameras. (Agenda/Business World Magazine)
