State Food Safety and Consumer Protection Service said Ukraine in January-September boosted snail exports to the European Union member states to 248 tons, or 2.5-fold from the figure reported for the whole of 2018.
“Exports of Ukrainian snails to the EU member states have been on the rise over the recent period. Some 248 tons of Ukrainian snails were supplied onto the European market in the nine months this year alone, while shipments of snails to the European Union were 93 tons in the whole of 2018,” the agency said.
In addition, the number of Ukrainian enterprises supplying snails to the EU increased over the two years. Seventeen Ukrainian firms were licensed to ship snails to the EU in the third quarter of 2019 alone against five enterprises in 2018. (UNIAN/Business World Magazine)
