A week from now, from September 9 onward, Swedbank clients will no longer be able to use code cards to use internet banking services, Swedbank warns.
Clients who still have not transitioned to other authentication tools are urged to do this within the week. Once the time is over, clients who have not switched to a different authentication tool will be able to restore access to internet banking services at one of Swedbank’s branch offices.
There are currently 70,000 Swedbank clients who still use code cards, according to information from Swedbank.
Since the beginning of code card migration in August 2018 more than 90% of Swedbank clients have picked other authentication tools. Most use Smart-ID app – the number of clients who use it exceeds 620,000, according to data from Swedbank.
Swedbank clients are able to switch to using Smart-ID without leaving their home, as it can be approved using a code card. This option will no longer be available starting next week, however.
Even if clients fail to transition within the week they can still come to any Swedbank branch office and request an option.
Instead of code cards, clients can use smartphones or tablet PCs with Smart-ID installed or use a code calculator.
As previously reported, Luminor bank also planned to cease using code cards with September 10 onwards. (BNN/Business World Magazine)
