Augusta Deglava Overpass was reopened for public transport on May 4. A speed limit of 20 km/h was imposed, however. Riga City Council, Transport Department, Riga City Construction Office, State Police and State Construction Control Office representatives agreed as much on May 3.
During the joint meeting, participants discussed the option to reopen the bridge fully once the State Construction Control Bureau had gone through the report compiled by engineering office SIA Inzenierbuve.
It was decided during the meeting that to continue construction work in accordance with the findings of the engineering survey, it was first necessary to develop different solutions. On top of that, it has been decided that it is necessary to reinforce particularly damaged supports and redistribute weight differently.
As it is known, Deglava Bridge has been closed to all traffic since the end of April.
Riga City Council, meanwhile, claims the bridge is safe for traffic. (BNN/Business World Magazine)
