The Finance Ministry aims to reduce the national debt to 50.5% of GDP by the end of 2019, and to 41.4% of GDP within the next three years, according to Finance Minister Oksana Markarova.
“In the updated medium term state debt management strategy for three years, which Finance Ministry presented at the previous meeting of the government’s strategic committee, we set more ambitious targets for reducing the debt-to-GDP ratio to 50.5% by the end of the current year and to 41.4% within the next three years, and more rapid development of the local borrowing market, as we need to be ready not just for potential risks, but for ensuring further growth,” Markarova wrote on Facebook.
She noted that debt issues would be among key topics for discussions during meetings with the IMF and the World Bank representatives. (Ukrinform/Business World Magazine)
