President Petro Poroshenko has said that funding for the program for the design and construction of an international airport in the city of Dnipro has been envisaged in the draft state budget for 2019.
He stated this at a meeting with Mayor of Dnipro Borys Filatov, the president’s press service reported.
“At my request, the draft budget includes a separate program for the construction of a modern international airport in Dnipropetrovsk region,” Petro Poroshenko said.
According to Poroshenko, he wants Dnipro to enter the list of cities from which regular flights are carried out. According to him, the discussion of this issue has already been completed with the government, prime minister, minister of infrastructure and it has been decided to support the request of the mayor and people’s deputies elected from Dnipro.
“I firmly believe that this is our common task. The budget already envisages and I hope that the needed sum for design, construction will be approved. If necessary, I am sure that the Government will also listen to my recommendations and allocate additional funds from the State Fund for Regional Development,” Poroshenko stressed.
He added that due to the work of the new airport, an increase in passenger flow was expected to grow by 3-5 million in three years.
“This means that residents of Dnipro and not only Dnipro, maybe Zaporizhzhia, Kryvyi Rih will have an opportunity to travel to 10-15 airports in Europe,” Poroshenko said.
The President said he expected Borys Filatov and the community to actively participate in the project. (Ukrinform/Business World Magazine)
