Free trade deal with the US would mean not only recognizing Georgia’s economic potential but also a political step, Prime Minister of Georgia Mamuka Bakhtadze annuonced.
He said one of the audit firms out of the big four involving EY, Deloitte, KPMG and PWC, had finished technical and economic feasibility study of the US-Georgia free trade and the “results are promising”.
“We have two important arguments: first – economic, meaning that the bilateral trade is beneficial for the both sides, and the second – political. You are aware of the vision of our team that we want Georgia to become the regional hub in terms of economy. Our US friends have the same vision towards the future of Georgia,” PM said.
He said Georgia had an important support on all levels and he had received a positive feedback regarding the issue of opportunity of signing free trade agreement.
PM Bakhtadze has also emphasized that the US is currently carrying out intensive talks with large economies regarding the free trade agreement. Thus he expects that the related dialogue will start soon with Georgia as well. (Agenda/Business World Magazine)
