The Latvian Supreme Court has banned the Riga public transport company SIA Rigas satiksme from continuing a procurement procedure of passenger van services without changing the procedure.
With this week’s ruling the Supreme Court has satisfied the additional complaints by the bus service companies AS Liepajas autobusu parks and AS Nordeka.
Having heard the explanations by SIA Rigas satiksme that it has to strictly follow the basic tariff set by the Riga City Council, the court found that it could seemingly be concluded that the possibility in this procurement to offer a price that was lower than the basic tariff was only illusory.
Reportedly, the Supreme Court has ordered for the additional agreement between SIA Rigas satiksme and van passenger service provider SIA Rigas mikroautobusu satiksme about extending the term of their contract on public transport services of a higher level of convenience.
