Freight volume handled at the Port of Klaipeda in January-June grew by 7.6% YoY, to 22.2 million tons, the Port Authority statistics said.
Container throughput totaled 74,370 TEUs.
In the reporting period the port serviced 143,180 passengers, up by 1%.
The number of calls totaled 3,257 (+0.4%).
The state-run Port of Klaipeda, the northernmost ice-free port on the East coast of the Baltic Sea, is the largest Lithuanian transport hub, connecting sea and inland traffic lanes. There are 17 stevedore companies, shipyards and other operators at the port, providing a broad range of services. Throughput of Klaipeda port in 2017 totaled 43.17 million tons.
