The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has left the list of systemically important banks unchanged. It includes three banks – PJSC CB PrivatBank, JSC Ukreximbank and JSC Oshchadbank, the central bank’s press service reports.
“PJSC CB PrivatBank, JSC Ukreximbank and JSC Oshchadbank have been designated as systemically important for 2018. This is stipulated in the resolution of the NBU Board, No. 161-rsh dated March 20. The banks had the status of systemically important in 2016-2017,” reads the report.
According to the NBU, systemically important banks by laws in many countries are banks whose bankruptcy or improper functioning could trigger systemic risks to the financial system. The NBU may apply tougher prudential requirements, including higher liquidity and capital ratios to systemically important banks, in accordance with common international practices. Systemically important banks are subject to special banking supervision. The procedure for identifying systemically important banks is carried out in line with the regulation approved by the resolution of the NBU Board, No. 863 dated December 25, 2014.
