In January-November the port of Ventspils handled 18.5 million tons of cargo, up by 9% YoY.
According to the port authority, in November the port handled 1.5 million tons of cargo.
The growth was mainly driven by the increase in transshipment of coal and cargoes carried by ferries.
The number of passenger carried by Ventspils-Nynashamn line grew by 26%, to 39,034 passengers. The line also carried 297,000 tons of Ro-Ro cargo (+18%).
Ventspils port is located near the Venta River. There are terminals for loading and unloading of crude and oil products, liquid chemicals and fertilizers, metal and coal, timber and fish, containers and Ro-Ro trailers.
