President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev spoke about economic opportunities in the relations between the two countries at a meeting with the Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Sapar Isakov. He said that Uzbekistan was ready to assemble cars in the Kyrgyz Republic and import its fabrics.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev recalled that in the near future the parties planned to increase the volume of mutual trade to $500 million. “But this is not the limit. The republics can create joint ventures and supply products to third countries,” he said.
“We have great opportunities. Why can’t we assemble our cars in Kyrgyzstan, give fabrics for light industry, engage in agricultural machinery? Our fruit ripen 1-1.5 months earlier than yours. We can use this opportunity,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev added.
Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Sapar Isakov said that according to the results of the work of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek business forum, the businessmen of the two countries reached an agreement for $115 million.
“These agreements will be worked out and signed by the companies in the near future. The drive that the presidents set at the meeting, we will continue. We have already held a meeting on this matter,” Sapar Isakov concluded. (24.kg/Business World Magazine)
