In January-April the Freeport of Riga handled 12.225 million tons of cargo, down by 0.3% YoY.
Coal transshipment climbed by 16.1%, to 4,675,900 tons, oil products dropped by 31.3%, to 2,274,200 tons, wood pellets went up by 9.8%, to 291,700 tons, ore by 8.3%, to 108,200 tons.
The port’s container throughput grew by 15.2%, to 142,724 TEUs.
Passenger turnover increased by 35.7%, to 197,965 people, including 2,344 cruise passengers (+57.8%).
Freeport of Riga lies on both banks of the River Daugava covering 6.3 hectares. The port’s berth length is 13,800 meters4 maximum draft at the berths is 12.2 meters. Up to 80% of the Freeport of Riga cargo turnover is made up of transit cargoes forwarded to or received from the CIS countries. In 2016, the port’s throughput totaled 37,070,300 tons of cargo.
