The total volume of leasing transactions increased by 5.7%n to 973.1 billion soums in Uzbekistan in 2016 compared to 2015, Uzbekistan Lessors Association reported.
The aggregate portfolio of lease deals in Uzbekistan increased by 14.5%, to 2.59 trillion soums during the reporting period.
Uzbek lessors concluded 5,540 deals in 2016 versus 5,600 deals a year earlier.
Agricultural equipment still has the main share in the structure of leased property as of 2016.
Its share in the total structure of lease deals was 31.8% compared to 32.9% in 2015.
The volume of deals in leasing of technological equipment amounted to 31.7% (30.6% in 2015), motor vehicles – 18.9% (19.8%) and real estate – 17.6% (16.7%).
Some 90 lessors, including 24 banks and 64 leasing companies worked on the Uzbek leasing market in 2016.
The customs duties on import of modern technological equipment on lease terms were abolished in Uzbekistan. The leasing payments were exempt from VAT and lessees – from taxes on leased properties. The legal entities rendering leasing services were exempt from paying an income tax and a single tax payment. (Trend/Business World Magazine)
