The share of nuclear generation of the total balance of power in Ukraine in the past weekend grew to 62%, the press service of Ukraine’s Energy and Coal Industry Ministry reported.
Minister Ihor Nasalyk at a meeting of the coordination center for provision of coal supplies to thermal power plants (TPPs) said that it was important to buy nuclear fuel for nuclear power plants (NPPs) on time and organize repair campaigns.
Ukrainian NPPs on February 18, generated 302.93 million kWh of electricity, breaking a record in the past 12 years. The coefficient of using NPPs’ capacity was 91.2% on February 18.
On February 19, due to systemic restrictions to 805 MW, Energoatom reduced generation of electricity by 18.94 million kWh with daily generation of 289.34 million kWh.
The Energoatom’s share of the total structure of electricity transmitted to the Energomarket state-run enterprise in January was 52.8%, and of the total structure of electricity generation in the country – 51.2%.
In the first ten days of February the Energoatom’s share of the total structure of electricity transmitted was 53.58%.
Energoatom is the operator of all four Ukrainian-based operating nuclear power plants, which have 15 VVER reactors with an overall generating capacity of 13.835 gigawatts. (Interfax/Business World Magazine)
