According to the updated statistics data, in January-September 2016/2017 MY Ukraine exported 140 thousand tons of sunflower seed, which became a record figure for the reporting period during 6 recent seasons.
At the same time, Ukraine supplied nearly 80% of the reporting volumes to the EU-28 countries, in particular to the Netherlands, France and Spain.
Taking into account the increasing demand rates for the oilseed from the European Union, analysts raised their forecast of the general export volumes of sunflower seed from Ukraine in the current season by 40 thousand tons, to 290 thousand tons.
Despite the growth of oilseed shipments to foreign markets, analysts estimated the carry-over stocks of sunflower seed as of February 1, on the level of 7.2 million tons (up by 12% YoY), which was quite sufficient to realize the forecast of domestic processing in 2016/2017 MY (13.6 million tons).
