President Shavkat Mirziyoev during his trip to Surkhandarya region reviewed the activities of the agricultural firm Agro Fresh Gold in the Termez district.
Surkhandarya farmers are making a worthwhile contribution to the welfare of the people, prosperity and abundance in the markets of the country all year round. 7% of cultivation lands of the country are located in this region. Farmers of this oasis deliver 8-9% of country’s cotton and grain, and more than 11% of fruit and vegetables.
A decline of cotton lands over the past years, as well as structural changes in the agriculture resulted in the increased capacities of fruit and vegetables, the processing industry is also developing rapidly.
Modern greenhouse of the agricultural firm Agro Fresh Gold is one of the most promising projects for the cultivation and export of vegetable products. Greenhouse of the enterprise valued at $35 million will allow exporting $30 million products annually and will create thousands of jobs. High demand varieties of tomatoes, cauliflower, broccoli, arugula and mint are grown at 15 blocks of the greenhouse laid on 20 hectares. The greenhouse area will stretch to more than 100 hectares after commissioning of all 70 blocks. In addition, it is planned to plant seasonal crops at 434 hectares, and raise from their export $23 million, to provide jobs for 2,100 people, and in the future to build intensive garden on 100 hectares.
The President noted the need to expand the types of cultivated products, to establish the cultivation of pomegranate and lemon on 5 thousand hectares each, and those shall consequently increase the incomes.
The head of state also inspected promising projects in such sectors as horticulture, poultry, and livestock.
LLC Angor Gold Fruits project will be engaged in the cultivation, storage and processing of fruit and vegetables, thus providing for the establishment of 530 hectares of intensive garden, a storage for 3 thousand tons of fruit and vegetables.
Another project, Fabullo build service, to be built in Jarkurgan district will be specialized in cultivation, storage and processing of fruit and vegetables, and will create 150 new jobs. In the modern greenhouse it is planned to grow 600 tons of vegetable and melon products. A freezing storage with a capacity of 2 thousand tons will store 6 thousand tons of products.
