Infrastructure Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelian expects to sign an agreement on the joint Air Space with the European Union in 2017.
“I decided to personally conduct consultations with Madrid and London in order to clearly make the message on the part of Ukraine, that this treaty has technically outgrown its format and turned into political format. Like a visa-free regime issue, the issue of open skies between the EU and Ukraine is very sharp. It’s good that both capitals understand this situation”, he said.
He stressed that London had officially agreed to resume negotiations with Spain on how to find a mutually beneficial formula for the signing of an agreement between Ukraine and the EU and specify Gibraltar’s position in the correct way so as to provide all the parties with security and national interests.
“The same information was announced by me in the European Commission; and I hope that we will soon be able to come to a common compromise in this triangle, and that the agreement will be signed in 2017”, the minister said. (Interfax/Business World Magazine)
