In January-October the sea terminal Nika-Tera (Sea Special Port Nika-Tera LLC, Mykolaiv, part of Group DF) shipped 1.676 million tons of grain cargoes, which formed 55.64% of the general cargo turnover (3.012 million tons), the press-service of the company declared. Also, the terminal shipped 267 thousand tons of mineral fertilizers (8.86%) and 1.068 thousand tons of bulk cargoes.
According to the announcement, during the first ten months of 2016 the terminal processed 200 dry bulk carriers.
In particular, in October Nika-Tera transshipped 504.3 thousand tons of cargoes, including 388.9 thousand tons of grains, 3.3 thousand tons of mineral fertilizers, and 112.1 thousand tons of bulk cargoes.
According to the Chairman of Nika-Tera specialized seaport Oleksandr Gaidu, in previous years the port has chosen the correct strategy of long-term planning aimed at forestalling risks from the loss of traditional freight rates. After declining of the cargo turnover, caused by the deficit of coal exports and transit of goods, in October the shipment volumes again showed the upward trend, reaching over 0.5 million tons, thereby repeating a record of the pre-crisis 2014.
