The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine has increased its forecast of growth of agricultural production in Ukraine in 2016 to 2.2%, as opposed to 0.7% in the previous forecast.
According to the announcement, in 2016 the country witnessed rather high volumes of agricultural crops production, especially spring crops, compared with the expected volumes, due to the high yield indices. Such high production volumes somewhat compensate the negative dynamics in animal husbandry, which develops in terms of high production costs.
At the same time, the adverse weather conditions, which can slow down the harvesting campaign rates, form the main risk for the dynamics of agricultural production in 2016. Also, the possibility of escalation of the military conflict in the east is an additional risk. (APK-Inform/Business World Magazine)
