The seaport of Chornomorsk (former Illichivsk) was visited by representatives of the China National Complete Engineering Corporation (CCEC) and the State Food Grain Corporation of Ukraine. The Chinese are investigating possibilities for implementing joint investment projects to develop the No. 2 terminal’s infrastructure.
The port’s management presented development projects designed for the period until 2018. One of them envisages the construction of a new grain terminal with a total handling capacity of 5 MMT a year, expanding the cargo storage capacity to 300 KMT and creating the possibility to receive all-types vessels with a maximum draft of 14 m and deadweight of up to 100 KMT.
The China National Complete Engineering Corporation is the operator of a contract for export grain purchases under trade agreements with China within the framework of a $1.5 billion loan provided by the Export and Import Bank of China to the State Food Grain Corporation of Ukraine.
