Azerbaijan and Mexico are successfully cooperating in trade, Mexican ambassador to Azerbaijan Rodrigo Labardini said at a press-conference in Baku on November 29.
Labardini recalled that the Azerbaijani embassy opened in Mexico in 2007, while the Mexican embassy in Azerbaijan launched its activity in 2014.
The ambassador said that the opening of diplomatic missions contributed to an increase in the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Mexico.
By reaching its peak after the opening of embassies, the trade volume between Azerbaijan and Mexico remains at a high level, he said.
Labardini recalled that according to the Azerbaijani side, the mutual trade between Azerbaijan and Mexico amounted to about $22 million in 2015.
He said that Mexico ranked second in the volume of economy in Latin America, and Mexico’s economy was the 14th largest economy in the world.
Mexico’s exports reached $381 billion in 2015, he said.
Labardini said that Mexico was a big producer of electrical appliances, pipes and various equipment used in the oil industry.
Mexico is one of the biggest exporters of beer and other food products and is ready to offer these products to Azerbaijan.
The ambassador added that Mexico supplied a large batch of sugar to Azerbaijan in 2015. (Trend/Business World Magazine)
