An auction to sell Ukrainian hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) aroused competition among investors. Dialog is being held about the privatization of Odessa Port-Side Plant, Head of the State Property Fund (SPF) Ihor Bilous said.
“We held a good auction to sell Myhia HPP. We broke a record putting it up for 10 million UAH and managing to sell it for 52.5 million UAH. Large competition was seen. Sixteen investors were fighting for the plant. We will put one more plant up for sale and next week the similar auction will be held”, Bilous said.
He said that the auction to privatize Odessa Port-Side Plant was scheduled for December 14. The potential bidders are to submit their papers before December 6.
“We are holding a dialog with six or seven bidders. Some of them are waiting. Some of them are making the final decision. Some of them would decide not to participate. This is the process that we cannot predict”, Bilous said.
He also touched on the privatization of Ukrainian regional power supply companies, pointing out the large interest of foreign investors.
“After the conference we held in late June we had a line of investors. Some 99% of them are foreigners, not from Cyprus, but real foreigners, serious people with support of embassies and so on”, he said. (Interfax/Business World Magazine)
