The Ukrainian government has issued fines totaling 721.236 million UAH ($28.25 million) to Russian airlines carrying out commercial services to Simferopol.
Ukraine has refused to recognize Russian jurisdiction over the Crimea following the latter’s unilateral annexation of the province in 2014. As such, Ukraine has issued over 5,000 fines to Russian airlines for serving Simferopol, none of which have ever been paid.
Known scheduled carriers that currently serve the Black Sea resort town include: Aeroflot; Alrosa Aviakompania; Orenburzhye; Red Wings (Russia); Globus; Ural Airlines; VIM Airlines; and Yamal Airlines.
