Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers has approved of a procedure for moving spent nuclear fuel and radioactive materials across the state border.
The procedure is approved in the government resolution No. 772 dated September 27, posted on the government’s website.
The procedures sets requirements and organization basis for moving spent nuclear fuel from Ukrainian nuclear power plants (NPPs) and radioactive materials received after treating spent nuclear fuel by companies registered in other states across the state border.
Spent nuclear fuel and radioactive materials are moved under foreign economic agreements signed by operators. The agreements are to meet legislation and international agreements of Ukraine and the international atomic energy agency (IAEA) rules.
Spent nuclear fuel and radioactive materials are moved with permits or conclusions issued by the State Export Control Service. (Interfax/Business World Magazine)
