Barqi Tojik (Tajikistan’s national integrated power company) says they raise rates in order to maintain the country’s power system in a working order.
A statement released by Barqi Tojik, in particular, notes that electricity prices will rise on average by 16.5% beginning on November 1.
They reportedly raise electricity prices also in order to recoup investments they are making to rehabilitate operating hydropower plants and power transmission lines. Besides, they pay royalty fees for use of water by hydropower plants. Every year, Barqi Tojik reportedly pays 35 million somoni in royalty fees.
