The European Union published a proposal to increase the quotas for duty-free supplying of Ukrainian products, including food products, products of the chemical industry, etc., the Official Journal of the European Union informed.
In particular, the document proposed to provide additional quotas to Ukrainian agricultural producers for the supply of corn and flour (650 thousand tons), barley and flour (350 thousand tons), wheat flour (100 thousand tons), groats and processed grains (7.8 thousand tons), oats (4 thousand tons), as well as honey, tomatoes and grape juice.
In addition, the customs duties for fertilizers will reduce to 0% (except for urea, containing more than 45% of nitrogen on the dry anhydrous product – the customs duties will remain at the level of 3% of the customs value).
In accordance with the EU proposal, the additional quotas and reduced duties shall apply for three years after they come in effect. The measure needs to be put under scrutiny of the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union.
The European Union has done the first step towards the increasing quotas for agricultural producers of Ukraine, and plans to increase the quotas for the supply of Ukrainian agricultural products by $196.95 million in money terms, the European Commissioner for Trade Cecilia Malmstrom noted.
