In the following 15-20 years, Russia will cover nearly 15% of the global food market, and increase the sum of agricultural exports to $150 billion, specialists of the International Independent Institute of Agricultural Policy (MNIAP) forecast.
According to the head of MNIAP Elena Skrynnik, globalization of the Russian agricultural exports is one of the main achievements of the national agro-industrial complex in the current year.
In 2016 for the first time Russia took the first position in the world in wheat exports. For the first time Russia turned into net exports of poultry meat, as opposed to many previous years of net imports. For the first time, Russian agricultural producers are able to respond to any demand – from the supply of halal products to Africa and the Middle East, to the exports of ice cream to China, said the expert.
According to Skrynnik, creation of free trade areas between countries of the Eurasian Economic Union and Association of South-East Asian Nations will contribute to the growth of Russian agricultural production and exports.
Also, Skrynnik stressed that further increasing of the export potential of Russian agro-industrial complex is possible only in terms of complete supply of the population of the country with high-quality, sustainable agricultural products at reasonable prices. (APK-Inform/Business World Magazine)
