Russian retailers are interested in selling Google’s Pixel, the first smartphone fully designed by the U.S. company, spokespeople for several companies reported.
“Google’s previous models Nexus sold at Svyaznoy enjoyed some success among the fans of the most technically advanced smartphones”, Sergei Tikhonov, a spokesman for multi-channel retailer Svyaznoy, said adding that it was still early to speak about sales outlook. “Demand will depend on the date of release in our country and the price. Svyaznoy is waiting for the manufacturer to provide it with dates of its appearance in Russia”.
Google presented its new smartphone, available in two versions with 5-inch and 5.5-inch screens, on Tuesday. The price starts from $649 apiece.
Alexei Shirokov, director for purchases at retailer Euroset, said that Nexus devices had their followers, but it was early to speak about any rush demand.
Mobile operator and handset retailer MegaFon is interested in the Pixel.
“Sales, however, will depend on many factors: the price, technical servicing center and so forth”, Yulia Dorokhina, head of MegaFon’s press office, said.
Mobile operator VimpelCom, which also runs a retail business, is ready to think of Pixel sales as well. (Prime/Business World Magazine)
