According to the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat), in 2016/2017 MY the planted areas under soybeans in Russia will increase to the record level of 2.18 million ha (up by 3% YoY).
According to APK-Inform forecasts, in 2016/2017 MY the general harvest of the oilseed will reach the record level of 2.71 million tons in clean weight (2.7 million tons in 2015/2016 MY), the oilseed analyst at APK-Inform Agency Elena Karasik declared at the round table “Market of major oilseeds and its by-products – 2016” on September 13.
However, soybean yield in 2016/2017 MY is expected to reach 1.28 ton/ha, as opposed to 1.3 ton/ha in the previous season. Thus, in the new season soybean production volumes will mainly increase due to expansion of the planted areas under the oilseed.
At the same time, E. Karasik added that APK-Inform Agency estimated the imports of soybeans to Russia in 2015/2016 MY at the record level of 2 million tons, up by 9% YoY (1.83 million tons). However, in the new season the import volumes may rise to 2.1 million tons, she said. (APK-Inform/Business World Magazine)
