Negotiations on setting up a Belarusian-Chinese joint venture to make tractors at premises of ZAO Amkodor Baltic in Vilnius took place on September 1-2.
Director General of the Chinese company Zoomlion Wang Jinfu, Director General of the Belarusian mechanical engineering company Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ trademark) Fyodor Domotenko, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Belarusian mechanical engineering company Amkodor Alexander Shakutin, and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Lithuania Alexander Korol took part in the negotiations.
As a result of the talks the sides signed a protocol of intent to cooperate in mechanical engineering. Plans were made to use Chinese components to assemble Belarusian tractors at ZAO Amkodor Baltic in Vilnius. In future the tractors might be sold in the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union and even to China via the Klaipeda seaport.
Potential of the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone will be used to make the components to assemble the tractors. The sides agreed to prepare and sign an agreement on strategic cooperation in the area of marketing and technical aspects of the project’s implementation. (BelTA/Business World Magazine)
