Russia has increased grain output by one third, or around 30 million tons, over the last 10 years, Agriculture Minister Alexander Tkachyov said.
“Grain production in Russia increased by one third over the last 10 years. In absolute figures, this is around 30 million tons, which is comparable with annual volume of Russian grain exports”, he said.
Russia exported almost 34 million tons of grain, including 24.6 million tons of wheat, in the 2015-2016 agricultural year, Tkachyov said.
“We have become the world’s leaders in terms of wheat exports leaving Canada and the U.S. behind”, he said.
Under preliminary estimates, this year’s harvest will amount to around 110 million tons of grain, Tkachyov said. (Prime/Business World Magazine)
