During the last week of July and the first week of August weather conditions were mainly warm and dry. Rains of various intensity were observed only in the Southern and Eastern regions.
25 mm precipitation amount was seen in the West, but in the Central, Northern and North-Eastern regions there were only 0.3-2 mm. Such weather conditions were not favorable for further growth and development of late spring crops, hampering the grain filling process.
Corn was predominantly at the stage of milky ripeness. Plants were 255 cm high, mainly with 2 heads per 1 plant. Quantity of grains in one head – 542-672. Corn condition is currently good, though moisture stocks in 1-meter soil layer are already unsatisfactory – 71-83 mm. (UkrAgroConsult/Business World Magazine)
