Uzbekistan plans to export textile, garment and knitwear products valued at over $1.1 billion. The country has attracted foreign investments for $2.5 billion to the sector.
During the last several years, Uzbekistan realized over 200 projects with participation of foreign investors from Great Britain, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, India and other partner countries.
The country commissioned high technological modern textile enterprises, including full circle of production – from processing of cotton fiber to production of ready goods.
In 1994, there were only three enterprises with foreign capital and their share in total production was just 2%, now their number exceeds 200 and their share in production reaches 80%.
Industrial capacities of textile enterprise on processing cotton fiber rose from 7% from total production in 1991 to 45% in 2015.
Currently, Uzbekistan has 40 trade houses abroad, which sell products of textile enterprises. The enterprises of Uzbekistan export their goods to over 50 countries, including those of the EU, CIS, Latin America, South Korea, China, Singapore, Iran, Israel and the USA. The country also entered the markets of Pakistan, Georgia, Croatia and Nigeria. (UzDaily/Business World Magazine)
