Naftogaz Ukrainy in April-June did not import natural gas, the press service of the state holding said.
The holding confirmed it had resumed gas purchases from European suppliers at the expense of own funds in July.
In the first quarter Naftogaz Ukrainy imported natural gas to Ukraine at a price of $198 per 1,000 cubic meters compared with $228 and $266 per 1,000 cubic meters respectively in the fourth and third quarters of 2015.
In January-March Naftogaz bought 2.01 billion cubic meters of gas in Europe, completely abandoning its purchases in Russia. In the previous quarter Naftogaz bought 3.03 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas, in particular 2.39 bcm from Russia, and in the third quarter of 2015 gas purchases totaled 2.36 billion cubic meters, it was also purchased only in Europe.
In June Ukraine imported 19.7 million cubic meters of gas, 96.4 million cubic meters in May, and 245 million cubic meters in April. During June and on July 1-14, gas imports to Ukraine through Slovakia were around 500,000 cubic meters, with some 2.1 million cubic meters on July 15, 8.8 million cubic meters on July 16-17, 7.8 million cubic meters on July 18, some 11.8 million cubic meters on July 19, 12.9 million cubic meters on July 20, 18.2 million cubic meters on July 21, and the application for July 22 was 18.5 million cubic meters.
