Uzbekistan is planning to increase total volume of cold storages, used for storing fruit and vegetables, up to 1 million tons by the end of 2020, chairperson of the board of Uzbekoziqovqatholding Odilhon Rustamov said.
He noted that currently there are more than 1,300 cold storages in Uzbekistan with a total capacity of simultaneous storage of more than 800,000 tons. These stores use progressive methods of storage of fruit and vegetables with an integrated approach to its sorting, packaging and calibration.
As a result of the creation of new facilities for the storage of fruit and vegetables, Uzbekistan will reduce losses of fruit and vegetables by over 10%.
Rustamov said that Uzbekistan also intended to create new warehouses as part of standard trade and logistics centers. He noted that Uzbekistan planed to build over 15 such centers valued at $115 million. (UzDaily/Business World Magazine)
