The Metropolitan “Uzexpocenter” saw the opening of the first International fruit and vegetable fair. The main purpose of the event is to raise awareness among the foreign processing and trade companies on the high, unique properties of environmentally friendly, fresh vegetables, fruit, grapes and melons, and finished quality products produced in Uzbekistan, their industrial processing.
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoev noted that the main goal was to develop an effective, transparent market mechanism of promotion of fresh and processed fruit and vegetables to foreign markets, taking into account modern international requirements and standards, creating favorable conditions and rendering assistance in search of partners and conclusion between them of contracts for the supply of fruit and vegetables.
To date the number of farms in the country exceeds 160 thousand, they use a simplified system of taxation. Due to high rates of fruit and vegetable production, by 2020 Uzbekistan plans to have increased their quantity at least twice.
It is worth noting that the interest in the fair is high, this is also evidenced by the number of foreign participants. Over 300 foreign guests from international and regional organizations, foreign missions, institutions for development and collaboration have come to attend the events.
